An easy, short train journey we thought... Its never that easy though is it. We decided to get to the train station and just get a train seat when we arrived. We waited in a big queue for reservations only to be told it was €20 each to reserve, you weren't guaranteed a seat and the next available train was 8 o'clock at night, either that or we chance it on one of the trains and stand for the whole journey!! We weren't waiting around for that long so just got on the next train to Florence.
The train was packed but we ended up chatting to an Italian guy who was really cool. Although he only had broken English we had a good laugh, he gave us some tips on Florence and it passed the time. We eventually got a seat as the train cleared which was a relief.
We arrived safely in Florence where we had to get on the number 14 bus to our hotel. When we got on the bus the driver had no tickets left but a wee old lady gave us a couple of hers then proceeded to tell us we had to get on the number 23 bus. The Italian bus system is confusing so we decided to walk to our hotel as it was close to the centre. We eventually made it to the hotel, dumped our stuff and went for some much needed food. A great pizza place next to the hotel did the job rounding off another tiring day.
