Day 12 - Venice, Sam's Birthday!!

Today it was Sam's birthday so we thought where better to spend a birthday than Venice, so we headed back into the city for a full days fun and excitement. It was back to the gorgeous sunshine and high temperatures we enjoyed at the beginning of the trip after a few dull days so we dug out the suncream again. We decided to consult the map today as after last night we discovered it is one of the most awkward places to get around. With so much to see we ploughed on with the sightseeing taking breaks as we went along to take in as much of the city as possible. We thought pictures would describe the place better than words so here's just a few of the things we seen.

As it was Sam's birthday and we were in Venice we just had to go on a gondola. The owners take so much pride in their boats with all of the gondolas we seen in immaculate condition! We had half an hour on the gondola so we went out into the madness of the canal before heading down some of the narrow waterways. We had a lovely glide around beautiful Venice which rounded off a memorable birthday.

We were both thoroughly impressed with Venice and were left speechless by its stunning architecture and waterways. We would definitely come back and recommend you visit Venice as its now one of our favourite places.
