Day 14 - Lake Garda

Our streak of unluckiness with the public transport seemed to have ended when we were late for our morning train only to discover it had been delayed anyway. We managed to make our way to Lake Garda for the second time in 2 days and we had more luck this time making our way easily up to the town of Garda itself. The day started off overcast but it was still warm so we sat down to some lunch taking in the views over the lake and watching the boats come in and out of the marina. We had heard so much about Lake Garda and about how lovely and relaxing it was so we just decided to stroll around and have a relaxing day before the next leg of our journey begins.

The sun came out after lunch and it turned it another beautiful day in Italy so we sat in the sun for a while. We did get a bit of a shock however, as we contemplated dipping our feet into the cool waters we spotted something swimming in the water.....

yes that is in fact a snake!!!! So it was no surprise that we decided against going in the water... We then spotted even more of them in amongst the rocks at the side of the lake.

As it is such a big place you need more than just the day we had there so we only seen a small part but it looks like a great place to go and relax. We don't think it would be too popular with the younger generation as there were a lot of older people there, one Scottish guy we got talking to mentioned a young couple they had met, this “young couple” were there for there 40th birthday!!! A really beautiful place but more for the oldies we think.

After lazing around for a while we headed back to Venice which turned into another joyful journey.... Again we waited over an hour for a bus only to discover after we got on that it didn't go to where we wanted, but instead went straight to Verona where we could get the train anyway so it wasn't too disastrous. We got back to our hotel eventually where we had a well deserved bottle of vino and packed as we head for Ljubljana tomorrow.
